Flower Care

Rose care

  • Use lukewarm water.
  • Use flower food.
  • Snip the stem about 3/4 of an inch, at a 45° angle.
  • Change the water every couple of days.
  • Keep the roses cool, in indirect sunlight.

Flower care

  • Fill the vase two-thirds with fresh lukewarm water and add flower food.
  • Remove any foliage that would sit below the water line.
  • Trim about 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the stems at a 45° angle.
  • Keep the arrangement in a cool area, out of direct sunlight.
  • Change the water regularly after the second day.

Dish garden plants

Keep the soil moist. Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch. Do not leave the plants standing in water. They prefer bright, diffused sunlight and a warm location.

Succulent dish garden

  • Bright, indirect sunlight.
  • Water when the soil is completely dry to the touch, about once a week. Do not leave the plants standing in water.

Money tree

  • Bright, indirect sunlight.
  • Rotate the plant monthly so growth stays even.
  • Water thoroughly, then let the soil dry before watering again.
  • Feed regularly during spring and summer.

Orchid plants

  • Keep the temperature between 60 and 80 degrees. Higher humidity is better.
  • Avoid drafts and cold spaces.
  • Fertilize regularly in the warmer months to prepare for the bloom cycle.
  • Larger orchids need support for long stems. Insert a stake in the potting mix and gently clip the stem as blooms emerge.
  • Water every 7 to 10 days. Press a finger into the moss or mix first. If it is dry, run water through the pot, then drain it thoroughly. Wipe splashed water off the leaves.

African violet plants

  • Bright, indirect sunlight.
  • Keep the soil moist but well drained.
  • Place the plant away from floor vents, fans, and entrance doors so it avoids drafts and bursts of cold air.

Peace lily

  • Water lightly when the top inch of soil feels dry.
  • They prefer indirect light.
  • Room temperature is best, about 65 to 80 degrees.
  • Protect the plant from drafts and from sudden cold or temperature changes.
  • Fertilize in spring and summer.
  • Peace lilies are mildly toxic to animals and humans. Keep them away from small children and pets, and wash your hands after handling the plant. It can produce crystals that irritate skin.

Bamboo plant

  • Indirect light is best.
  • Water with bottled or distilled water. Add a little water every 2 to 7 days and keep the soil moist.
  • Keep the temperature between 65 and 90 degrees.
  • Fertilize monthly.

Poinsettia

  • Indoor temperatures of 65 to 75 degrees. Avoid places where the temperature jumps around.
  • Indirect sunlight is best.
  • Water weekly, when the soil is dry to the touch. Water thoroughly in a sink and let it drain.
